Design of Copper Ion Selective Polymers by Molecular Imprinting Approach

چکیده
Molecular imprinting techniques have reached tremendous importance in the research of new artificial recognition systems. The investigation reports the preparation of Cu (II) ion selective polymer with high specificity and selectivity by molecular imprinting approach. For this 4-vinyl pyridine was chosen as the functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agent and azo-bis-isobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. Non-imprinted polymers were also synthesized. The polymers were characterized by FT-IR and UV-vis., SEM-EDAX and powder-XRD spectral techniques. The Cu (II) ion concentration was detected by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The FTIR spectra proved that the pyridinal nitrogen in the pyridine unit involved in the metal ion binding. Binding studies proved that the Cu (II) ion specifically rebind the Cu(II) ion than other metal ions. Moreover the developed system showed selectivity towards Cu(II) from a mixture of metal ions.

A new selectophore was introduced for Cu2+ ions. Spectroscopic studies showed a selectivity of a new organic compound (L) toward copper ions and several transitional metal ions. Hence, L was utilized in designing several ion selective electrodes for these cations. In practice, Cu2+ ion selective electrode behaved Nernstian (slope of 27.95±0.3 mV decade-1) over a...

Many researchers have studied the biosorption of different pollutants. However, a quite limited number of works focus on selectivity, which may be characterized as specific property for each biosorbent. Two main criteria need to be adopted for the selection and synthesis of modern biosorbents, such as their rebinding capacity and selectivity for only one target, molecule, ion, etc. Selective bi...

2-Amino-N-benzthioazolyl benzamide (ABTB) was synthesized, characterized and used for thefabrication of a potentiometric sensor for Cu2+ metal ions. The electrode exhibits linear response to Cu(II) over a wide concentration range (4.79×10 -8 – 1.85×10 -1 M) with Nernstian slope of 30 ± 1.5 mVper decade. The electrode can be used in the pH range from 2 to 9. It has a fast response time of about1...
